Today I am reviewing two products from TONI&GUY’S HAIRMEETWARDOBE Collection. The concept behind this collection is pretty self explanatory. The range includes tools and products designed to help you create hairstyles that best express your fashion styling be it Casual, Classic, Glamour or Creative.
I was asked to fill out a quick questionnaire to decipher my ‘Hair Personality,’ after which was revealed that I would be receiving products from the GLAMOUR range to review. I’d say my personal style was more casual than glam but big, bouncy waves and curls are definitely my favourite way to wear my hair, so I’d say the Glamour Range suited me perfectly.
I was sent the Jumbo Tong to review so I will just tell you a little bit about how I got on with it.
The Jumbo Tong has a whopping 38mm wide barrel which means it gives the biggest curl ever. Perfect for those big bouncy waves I’ve always wanted. It has a variable temperature setting that can heat up to 200°C in next to nothing time and the ceramic tourmaline coated barrel means it gives the hair a shinier and healthier looking finish.
There doesn’t seem to be many blogger reviews on this product but I have read quite a few user reviews on stockist sites like Amazon, and Boots. It appears that it hasn’t been that well received with comments like “It did absolutely nothing for my hair” and “It leaves a horrible kink on the ends”
I have to say that after trying it out myself, I was pretty happy with the tongs and it certainly delivers the big, jumbo curls it promises. As for horrible kinks, I am glad to say that I have not had that issue either, just perfect curls all the way. When you clip the hair in the tongs, roll the hair in the direction that doesn’t bend the hair back over itself as that is how you’ll get that “horrible kink.” If you need to curl the hair facing in or outwards then adjust the way you hold your tong instead.
I did find that the curls are not as long lasting as I’d like, but that’s to be assumed with loose curls. I tried spraying sections of my hair with the firm hold hairspray before curling, which made them last longer. However, I’m not so sure my dry, damaged hair is going to appreciate that in the long run. I also thought that by doing this I’d get crispy curls but fortunately that was not the case, it gave a firm hold without the stiffness and thankfully no white, flaky bits either.
All in all I give these tongs a thumbs up because I love the big, bouncy waves it creates. It was easy to use and takes very little time to do once you get the hang of it. It takes me about 20 minutes to do my whole head, but I have a LOT of hair.
The TONI&GUY Jumbo Tongs retails at £20 (blinking good bargain) and the Firm Hold Hairspray £6.39 can be purchased from many retailers such as Boots.
The HAIRMEETWARDROBE website is great for reading up about the 4 different style ranges and it also has a series of helpful videos on how to use the tools and products. It’s definitely worth checking out for some styling tips and tricks.
